love is the every only god
who spoke this earth so glad and big
even a thing all small and sad
man, may his mighty briefness dig
for love beginning means return
seas who could sing so deep and strong
one queerying wave will whitely yearn
from each last shore and home come young
so truly perfectly the skies
by merciful love whispered were,
completes its brightness with your eyes
any illimitable star
thanks to Adam & Paul for re-emerging this poem here....

Update from Susan 8-3
Hello,
Thank you All for staying in touch. It was a busy week, I'll try to summarize:
Family visitors - Adam on the weekends Fri - Sun, Shanda, Sharlyn Sun-Wed, Katy Thurs & Fri, Carole Norris (Adam's Mom) & Suzanne (Carolyn's sister) visited Sat.
Tom Schultz, wonderful artist, drove down from Berkeley and placed one of his paintings in our bedroom.
Doctors visits - surgeon removed his staples Mon & Dr. Lin, his new home care doctor, visited Thursday.
Paul started to run fevers Thursday afternoon and became confused. We took him to the urgent care where he had blood cultures drawn, IV fluids & antibiotic & sent home at midnight to his new TPN formula (muscle milk.) He was chipper on Friday but had a fever again Saturday that we were able to manage at home.
He woke Sunday morning asking "where's my Oscar party?!" So a few phone calls to the usual suspects and we had ten folks in for a visit in the evening. Paul seems to receive energy from people & it was festive having them milling around. I hired one of Alexander's friends, Garreth, who has become a budding cook & he whipped up a beef & mushroom curry dinner (even did the shopping!), others chipped in appetizers, everyone cleaned up before leaving.
We received preliminary blood culture results Sun afternoon & the antibiotic I was giving him at home wouldn't cover all the bugs. With the fevers, to be safe, he was re-hospitalized last night for additional flavors. His spirits are good. Kevin spent the night with him and we anticipate that he will be home by Wednesday/Thursday.
You can call his room directly 626-535-6928.
The futon in the living room has been made into the "healing bed." Paul rests while family & pets snuggle. Shanda sent over a few Oscar nominated movies from her Directors Guild review stash. Katy paints in the yard, Sharlyn shares music & dance, Adam watches games with his Dad, the family flow.
love, Susan
